Inverness's reigning Miss Scotland is set to compete for the final Miss World show today in India as she goes up against against over 100 women from across the globe.

Chelsie Allison (26) scooped the title of Miss Scotland in October.

The Tesco Mobile retail manager has spent the past five weeks in India as part of the Miss World competition.

From competing in a multimedia challenge, to making it in the top 20 model shortlist, Miss Scotland has certainly done it all.

When talking about her modelling achievement, she said: "I was completely shocked when they called my country for the top 20 in the top model challenge!

"I was placed in the top 5 in Europe which was incredible."

Chelsie has been tirelessly rehearsing for the Miss World final show for weeks.

The show will take place in Mumbai and will be broadcast live on YouTube and the Miss World website at 2pm today (Saturday).

She said: "The rehearsals have actually been really fun!

"It gives us more time to get to know each other and have a bit of fun. The rehearsals have made it feel a lot more real for me.

"I think the last week has been a bit of a whirlwind and I don’t think it’s really sunk in that I will be on a stage in front of 120 other countries."

As her Miss World journey begins to come to an end, Chelsie has felt 'overwhelmed with emotion'.

She said: "I have felt every emotion today with it being the final!

"There was a few times during rehearsals yesterday where I thought about where I was and what I was a part of and I really had to hold back the tears.

"I still haven’t come to terms with the fact that I am here, representing my country!

"I can’t wait just to be on stage with all of the incredible women of the world."

In aid of the pageant, Chelsie has also supported the Highland Hospice as her chosen charity after two of her relatives, who sadly passed away, were taken into the hospice where they received an exceptional standard of care.

She now plans to continue her work alongside the hospice and aims to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
