Emergency services were called to deal with an incident at the River Ness yesterday evening.

Both the Ness Bridge and Greig Street pedestrian bridge were closed for a short time last night as emergency services dealt with a concern for person call at the Ness Bridge site.

Police, fire and ambulance services were all at the scene at around 6pm.

Firefighters confirmed that an incident, which they were called to at 5.44pm, prompting the closure of the two bridges, was due to a water rescue operation.

The bridges both reopened to pedestrians and traffic shortly after 7pm.

Police later also confirmed that one person had been traced and taken to hospital for assessment in connection with the incident.
