Many residents are outraged by the incident as with the approach of summer, lots of parents often take their children to the park.

Councillor Duncan Macpherson said: “It isn’t big and it isn’t clever to damage public property and to spoil the enjoyment of lots of others, especially all the youngsters and their families who enjoy playing in the play park.

“If only the foolish perpetrators realised that their atrocious juvenile behaviour only ends up costing their parents, grandparents, and all their neighbours lots of extra money onto their council tax bills, at a time when the nation is facing a huge cost of living crisis and Highland council are about to set their budget for the new financial year.”

A spokesperson for Highland Council said: "This is a privately factored play area as part of the housing development and not the council's responsibility to maintain."

Police Scotland have also been approached for a comment.
