Inverness Labrador wins 'best in class' for gundogs at Crufts
An Inverness woman and her canine companion won 'best in class' at this year's ultimate dog show, Crufts.
The pair were amongst almost 20,000 dogs recognised at this year’s event in Birmingham.
Emma Bamford and four-year-old Tweed (Nithvalley Tweed at Foxhope) won gold at their first-ever outing together at the world’s biggest dog show.
The Labrador retriever, from Inverness, was crowned overall winner of the British association for shooting and conservation (BASC) gamekeepers’ classes on Friday after beating five other finalists.
After winning, Emma took to social media and said: "What an amazing day. On cloud nine.
"After years of being at Crufts with the Dalmatians I took the gundogs to BASC and not only did the boys show their socks off, but we ended up in the main arena winning!
"The dogs on display at BASC were just quality true working dogs.
"I didn't envy the judges, as what variety they had to choose from."
A spokesperson from PureFlax, who sponsored Foxhope Gundogs, said: "We are all over the moon for Emma and the team.
"PureFlax has worked closely with Emma for around three years, and these results are thoroughly deserved."
