AN INVERNESS cheerleading and dance group were amazed after being invited to compete at a world championship in the US for the second year running.

Last weekend saw Team Love Cheer's Hip Hop team receiving a bid to compete in the Summit Championship 2024, a top world dance and cheerleading competition taking place in Florida next year – only a few weeks after three of TLC's teams were back from their first ever presence at the event.

The team won the bid by being scored the second highest scoring team from the three day event the Future Cheer Superhero Spirit Challenge in Glasgow.

Team Love Cheer's head coach, Kerri Love, said: "We are feeling shocked that we received another Summit bid, but so grateful!

"We were delighted last year receiving our first ever bid and feel we are just getting over this years Florida trip we hadn’t had time to think about a bid. I think the team as a whole as in shock we were the second highest scoring team of the Dance teams.

"The talent throughout Scotland has sky rocketed since Covid, so we are ecstatic that our little team from Inverness are at the top of their game."

Among the three teams that competed at the Summit 2023 at the end of April, one ranked third in the world in the Junior Lyrical Contemporary category.
