Chilly conditions prompted the cancellation of the popular Torvean Junior Parkrun in Inverness on Sunday morning.

The event, which involved two circuits of the route totalling 2k, regularly attracts dozens of young participants.

But organisets were forced to cancel early on Sunday morning when they found the paths to be too icy.

Posting on its Facebook page, organisers said: "Run director Mhairi has just checked the path in the park and unfortunately it is too icy for our run to go ahead this morning.

"Please spread the word that we are cancelled today and fingers crossed we will be back next week."

Reactions to the news called it the "right call"as conditions underfoot were probably too slippy for anything other than a gentle stroll.
