A Nairn-based animal charity has opened its first shop on the High Street in Nairn last week.

Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue moved to its home at Easter Hardmuir Farm in 2022 welcomed customers in their new space, which was formerly occupied by Wendy’s Hoose.

Charity founder Debra Rothery said they had many people in on the first day and loads of donations from the community in the run up to the opening.

After the first few days running the shop, she said: “It’s doing really well! Better than we thought, which is brilliant.

“Thanks to everyone involved and happy shopping!”

The new shop will help support the charity’s efforts in rescuing and rehoming greyhounds and lurchers. The team will also be running a series of fundraising events over spring and summer.

Tia Rescue was originally founded in Yorkshire and rescues dog from all over the UK.

Recently, they have installed new state-of-the-art kennels to host up to 60 dogs in their Nairnsjhire base and organised a popular dog show last year.
