A golf club being wielded by a £5000 larger-than-life floral model golfer has been stolen hours after the figure was unveiled.

The driver was part of the towering 7ft figure placed outside Inverness Town House as part of the city’s preparations for the Scottish Open.

It was discovered this morning that it had been stolen overnight.

Metal barriers were installed to protect the floral display and it was placed under a close-circuit television camera in a bid to deter vandalism.
