THE prize fund for this year's Scottish Open golf championship has dropped by £500,000 and there are no guarantees it will be held at Castle Stuart next year.
The revelations were included in an announcement that global investment management group, Aberdeen Asset Management, is the new title sponsor of the tournament which will be held from 12th to 15th July.

Paul Lawrie, Scotland's most recent champion on The European Tour, has confirmed his intention to return to Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness in search of the title at the head of his wish list - the Scottish Open.
And spectators hoping to see the 1999 Open Champion and 2012 Commercialbank Qatar Masters winner in the world-class Scottish Open field can enjoy special discounts, with £7 off day tickets and £15 reductions on season tickets if purchased before March 31.

MORE than £30,000 was raised for Action for Children at Castle Stuart during last week's Barclays Scottish Open.
Spearheading the charity fundraising was the Barclays Birdie Pledge, with Barclays Capital pledging £10 for every birdie, £50 for every eagle and £100 for every albatross scored during the golf tournament, which was won by the sport's number one world-ranked player Luke Donald.
