Floodlighting will be installed at a community training pitch in Kiltarlity after plans were approved by Highland Council.

The proposals, which were lodged by Kiltarlity Community Council, will result in the erection of six 10m tall floodlighting at Balgate Park.

The lights will "allow for extended training hours for shinty and other sports" in the off-season, the community council stated in its application form – adding that they would only be used when necessary and no later than 9pm.

In their initial application, the community council said: "This proposal goes in line with the creation of a grass training pitch, including renewal and minor relocation of the play park, which do not require planning permission."

A location plan submitted with the application shows that the floodlit training pitch will be located at Lovat Shinty Club, on land to the north and east of the modern clubhouse building.

There were no objections to the proposals.
