AIRLINE passengers are facing further disruption today after an island flight from Inverness Airport was cancelled.

The Loganair flight to Kirkwall which should have left at 9.30am today was cancelled this morning as well as the flight to depart at 12.50 from the Orcadian airport to Inverness.

Yesterday afternoon, a Loganair flight to Inverness from Birmingham was cancelled which the airline shares was due to "operational reasons".

An EasyJet flight to London Luton due to depart at 11.40am has also been delayed and is expected to leave the airport at 12.20pm.

This follows a series of cancellations and delays disrupting air travel to and from the Highlands in the past two months, with flight cancellations between Inverness and London being raised at House of Commons last week.

A spokesperson for Loganair said: “The recent disruption experienced on the Inverness to Kirkwall route was due to weather delays and a subsequent technical issue. We thank customers for their patience and understanding.”

EasyJet has been contacted for comment at the time of writing.
