EasyJet has apologised after cancelling the early morning flight from Inverness to London Gatwick.

The cancellation of a passenger flight from Inverness to London today was due to staff sickness, airline EasyJet has said.

The airline has apologised to passengers for cancellation of the 6.45am service to London Gatwick.

A spokesman for the airline said: "We are sorry that flight EZY860 from Inverness to Gatwick this morning was cancelled.

"This was due to ground handling and airport coaching delays due to staff sickness at Gatwick yesterday evening, which meant that the inbound flight to Inverness was unable to arrive last night ahead of the airport curfew.

"We are very sorry to affected customers for the difficulty this will have caused and have provided customers with options to rebook or receive a refund as well as hotel accommodation and meals where required."

The affected flight was the 6.45am EasyJet service to London Gatwick.

Passengers travelling with the airline have faced disruption in recent weeks with thousands of EasyJet flights being cancelled – some at short notice – or delayed, including services from Inverness.
