A family in Inverness joined thousands across the country in what was billed as the last Clap for Carers last night.

The Mapplebecks in Anderson Street in the Merkinch area of Inverness held aloft a brightly coloured flag bearing a thank you message as they applauded.

Over the weeks since lockdown began many residents have joined in the round of applause for healthcare and other frontline workers.

In the Smithton area those applauding were joined by two young drummers while in Creag Dubh Terrace in Kinmylies the weekly event had become something of a ceilidh.

Lockdown measures are being eased from this weekend as the start of a potentially long process of getting back to nromal.
