Inverness Royal Academy's rector is calling for help from parents/carers after a number of complaints were received about road safety near the school.

Rector Nigel Engstrand has shared an example of concerns sent to him, where the complainer stated: "It’s only a matter of time before a pupil is injured or worse."

The letter highlights an incident where apparent pupils of the secondary were pushed into roads in front of oncoming traffic.

It also outlines a scenario where alleged pupils were cycling in front of traffic with one apparently filming another who had a third pupil sat on the bike's handlebars.

Mr Engstrand said: "For our part we will keep focussing in assemblies on pupils’ responsibilities to themselves and the community to behave and travel safely but I really need your support in speaking to your son or daughter and reinforcing how you expect them to behave on their journeys to and from school.

"Please check if they are using bikes that they have lights and any other necessary safety equipment like a helmet."
