AN Inverness family who died in a car crash on the A82 will be buried together in what their relatives have called the “saddest of funerals”.

Described as “ever so treasured and loved”, Rhys Cousin (25), his wife Gemma (26) and their daughters Peyton (3) and Heidi (1) of Westhill will be buried at Kilvean Cemetery on Thursday.

They were killed in a road accident at around 5.30pm last Thursday when the Mini Cooper car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle.

In a tribute announcing the funeral, the family said: “Due to a devastating car crash near Fort William in atrocious weather, on their way home, Rhys, Gemma, Peyton and Heidi tragically lost their young lives.

“Ever so treasured and loved by Tracy, Fraser, Samantha, Robert, all the extended family, heartbroken friends and neighbours.

“The saddest of funerals to say goodbye will be held on March 5 at noon in the funeral home of William T Fraser and Son, Inverness, thereafter to rest together in Kilvean Cemetery.”

More than £27,000 has been donated to the cost of the funeral via online fundraising.

Two crowdfunding campaigns have gathered support from across the globe.

A fire crew from Fort William, who were one of the first emergency teams to reach the scene, donated £300 with the message: “Sending love and prayers to all the family.”

In her fundraising campaign, Nikki Cartwright said: “Nothing will fill the hole left in our hearts, we are all absolutely devastated and struggling to come to terms with it.”

The other vehicle involved in the accident was a Ford Fiesta driven by a 56-year-old woman who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police said inquiries were ongoing.
