UPDATE: Man rescued from the water after emergency services called to incident in the Beauly Firth near Inverness

A person has been recovered from the water near the Kessock Bridge in Inverness.

Emergency services, including the HM Coastguard, Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service and a lifeboat, were called to the scene earlier this morning.

A spokeswoman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said it followed a mayday alert from a vessel passing through the area at around 7.45am.

"Coastguard rescue teams from Inverness and Cromarty, a lifeboat from Inverness and the Coastguard helicopter from Inverness were sent to the scene," she said.

"The casualty was recovered by a nearby vessel and the Coastguard helicopter conducted further searches with nothing else found."
