Children’s laureate Joseph Coelho has opened the new library at an Inverness primary school.

He visited Ness Castle Primary as part of a week-long tour of schools in some of Scotland’s most remote regions.

The writer – known for his Luna Loves picture books and Fairy Tales Gone Bad – went to schools across the Highlands, Western Isles and Orkney with the Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour, run by national charity Scottish Book Trust.

Ness Castle Primary opened in February. Pupils had previously been in temporary and spare classroom accommodation at Holm Primary.
