An Inverness hotel knows the importance of family celebrations, and for this reason, it’s pulling out all the stops for Mother’s Day.

Macdonald Drumossie Hotel is hosting a special event for all the family on Sunday, March 10, with delicious food, including a decadent carvery and a variety of desserts for those with a sweet tooth.

Taking place from 12pm to 3pm, the event will also see an afternoon of entertainment with the recent Ness Factor winner, Joanne Ross, taking to the stage to serenade those in attendance.

For general manager Stephane Portes, celebrating family and creating a special time for memories to be made is close to his heart.

He said: “There is no better way to have an exceptional lunch than by being surrounded by family - especially when celebrating an event like Mother’s Day.

“We are welcoming big groups and smaller groups to come and join us for an intimate afternoon to celebrate the people who are closest to us.”

34-year-old Joanne Ross took the annual Ness Factor competition by storm last year, with a rendition of Proud by Heather Small.

The competition raises money for Highland Hospice, and last year raised over £86,000 for the charity.

Originally from Dingwall, Joanne said her reason for taking part in the competition was that: “A close family friend unfortunately became terminally ill and relied on the hospice in her final stages. They were absolutely amazing and supported her family so much.

She added: “I have always liked singing so thought it was an ideal opportunity for me to gain some confidence and raise funds for an amazing charity.”

Since then, her popularity has been rising, which has included her performing at the Christmas light switch on at Falcon Square at the end of last year.

Now, she and her band will be providing two half-hour performances for the Mother’s Day meal.

Stephane added: “Joanne Ross is one of the up-and-coming talents in the area, which was recognized during Ness Factor.

“Proud is a hit song, and she will be performing it on Mother’s Day! It’s going to be a great day and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone in to celebrate at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel."
