A ballot will take place for the renewal of VILN BID.

A ballot is to be held to renew the Visit Inverness Loch Ness Tourism (VILN) Business Improvement District (BID) for a further period of five years.

A notice of ballot has been published and a copy of the notice will be issued by post to all persons eligible to vote in the BID area.

The organisation represents an area totalling 1200 square miles, including more than 40 communities.

Ballot papers will be sent to all eligible voters next week.

The ballot papers will be counted on Friday 15 March 2025, and the result of the ballot will be published on the Highland Council’s website.

The ballot will be conducted entirely by post on behalf of the Ballot Holder and by the independent scrutineer, CIVICA Election Services.

To pass the ballot more than 25 per cent of the VILN BID levy payers must vote – by quantity and by the total rateable value, and of these votes there must be a majority in favour for both criteria.

To support its members, who operate in more than 30 sectors, the organisation delivers a range of activities from its business plan including marketing, infrastructure, events, business tourism, business development and lobbying.
