2-vehicle crash closes busy Highland trunk road A82 both ways between Invermoriston and Fort Augustus

UPDATE (Please read): A82 reopened following earlier collision

A busy Highland trunk road has been closed in both directions following a two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon.

The A82 was shut between Invermoriston and Fort Augustus following the crash, which is understood to have occurred at around 12.50pm.

A spokesperson for the police said: “Around 12.50pm on Monday police received a report of a two-car crash on the A82 near to Invermoriston.

"Police, Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) are currently at the scene and the road has been closed in both directions."

The SFRS said it had been called to attend the scene by the ambulance service at 1.18pm and that two fire engines - one from Fort Augustus and another from Drumnadrochit - were sent to the crash site

Traffic Scotland, meanwhile, has confirmed the road is closed and has urged people to use alternative routes.

A Traffic Scotland spokesperson said: “The A82 is currently closed in both directions at between Fort Augustus and Invermoriston due to a road traffic incident. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route at this time.”
