Day Out

FOR once petrolheads will not moan about having to head into town for the shopping this weekend.

For the third year, Inverness BID turns over the centre of Inverness to lovingly maintained motors from the days when cars had character and blandly functional people characters were the stuff of science-fiction.

With anything from buses to bubble cars likely to feature, the third BID Classic Car show takes place on Church Street, High Street, Inglis Street and Falcon Square from 11am to 3pm tomorrow with a parade starting from the High Street at 2.30pm.

For those less entranced by the lure of old metal, there will also be live music and street entertainment.

And for anyone concerned this event may not be compatible with their ecological concerns, they should maybe look to the 1940s-style Burton roadster. This started as Burton is the ultimate in recycled cars. It started it’s life as a 1987 Citroen 2CV, but includes parts from an MG, Austin Healey, Citroen and even a Harley Davidson motor cycle. How’s that for recycling?
