Film goers are being invited to dive into a night of mesmerising ocean adventure at Eden Court on Monday.
The Ocean Film Festival World Tour is back with a brand-new collection of the world’s most incredible maritime films.
Brought to you by the team behind the Banff Mountain Film Festival UK and Ireland Tour, this carefully curated selection of short films combines epic human endeavour and astounding marine life in a spectacular cinematic celebration of our oceans.
Film highlights include Circumnavigate which sees father of three Brendon Prince, from South Devon, attempt to become the first person ever to stand-up paddleboard around mainland Britain.
It is a challenge that many have tried, but none have achieved. Circumnavigate joins Brendon on his gruelling journey around Britain’s spectacular and often treacherous coastline, in an attempt to break five world records and raise awareness for water safety education.
Another is Tiger Shark King. More than 20 years ago, conservationist and diver Jim Abernethy discovered the ‘affectionate’ side of large predatory sharks after removing a fishing hook from the jaws of a tiger shark.
Since then he has removed thousands of hooks from sharks in the waters off the Bahamas, and has brought divers to encounter them with the goal of de-stigmatising sharks as killers.
“Dive into a night of wild seafaring voyages and astounding marine life – without getting your feet wet,” says tour director Nell Teasdale.

Organisers are working with PADI, the world’s largest diver organisation, as presenting partner.

The Ocean Film Festival originated in Australia, with the aim of inspiring people to explore, respect, enjoy and protect the oceans. As well as captivating films, each screening will see a free prize giveaway to win ocean-related goodies.
On Monday, Eden Court will be closed during the day to mark the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II but it will reopen at 5.15pm.
