1 ONE of Britain’s most well-known broadcasters and actors is bringing his extensive record case with him to Inverness this weekend.

Craig Charles comes to the Ironworks on Friday night with the Funk and Soul Club – the live offshoot of his popular Radio 6 show Craig Charles’ Funk and Soul Show.

2 GLASGOW stand-up Raymond Mearns is bringing new show Confessions of a Control Freak to Elgin this weekend.

The comedian, best known for his appearances in Limmy’s Show and BBC Radio Scotland’s Breaking the News, visits The Drouthy Cobbler on Saturday night.

3 IT’S a kind of magic for Queen lovers when Gary Mullen returns to Inverness this Sunday.

The Freddie Mercury impersonator and Stars in their Eyes winner comes to the Ironworks for One Night of Queen – featuring all of the celebrated rockers’ best-loved hits and performed with the panache of Freddie Mercury in his pomp.

4 RISING Mancunian musical star Ollie West brings his band north next week for shows in Golspie and Dornoch.

The Ollie West Band bring their “cinematic orchestral pop” to the Sutherland town’s Fountain Road Church Hall on Tuesday before a show in the Highland capital’s Velocity Café on Wednesday.

5 A CLASSIC night of country music featuring tributes to some of the genre’s biggest stars is on offer in Ullapool next week.

The Legends of American Country comes to the Macphail Centre on Wednesday, featuring the songs and styles of Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, and more.

6 BALKAN folk enthusiasts the Budapest Café Orchestra are tuning up to begin what has become their annual tour of the north of Scotland.

The group – led by violinist and composer Christian Garrick – kick off their multi-date tour next Thursday at the Carnegie Hall, Clashmore, with dates across the whole north to follow.

7 INCLUSIVE theatre piece The Isle of Brimsker journeys north to Lyth Arts Centre next week for a multi-sensory experience.

The piece by Frozen Light – who specialise in making theatre for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities - is performed at the Caithness venue on Wednesday and Thursday. It also comes to Eden Court, Inverness the Friday and Saturday after (June 7 and 8).
