Every week What's On North offers up seven top picks from across the north of Scotland for arts-lovers to feast on. This week features big monsters, big parties, and big anniversaries!

1 A FAMILY-friendly extravaganza about history’s biggest beasts will Rex its muscles at Eden Court this weekend.

Dinosaur World Live comes to the Inverness theatre from Friday until Sunday, offering kids big and small alike the chance to learn about the prehistoric reptiles which dominated the world hundreds of millions of years ago.

The show will give people the chance to meet a host of creatures including a Triceratops, Giraffatitan and Segnosaurus and, of course, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The show takes place on Friday at 4.30pm, with two shows each on Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 2pm. Tickets cost £15 – go to www.eden-court.co.uk

2 A CELEBRATION of Inverness’s Gaelic culture in all its forms is set for this weekend as the city’s Provincial Mod returns.

Competitors across a range of groups will compete in a variety of Mod disciplines at Eden Court on Friday and Saturday from 9am.

And an end of Mod ceilidh will take place at Inverness’ Royal British Legion Club on Saturday night from 8pm, featuring Gaelic folk band Marloch.

3 THREE of the Hebrides finest folk and trad musicians are joining forces for a concert at Hootananny.

Multi-instrumentalists Miss Irenie Rose, Elsa Jean McTaggart and Gary Lister will be performing together at the Inverness bar on Friday night as Hebridean Fire.

4 VIRAL sensation Gary Meikle will be raising eyebrows – and laughs – in Elgin when he brings his stand-up to the town hall.

The Glasgow comic – whose comedy rants about his daughter’s eyebrow grooming have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on Facebook and YouTube – brings his show The iBrow Guy to the cathedral city on Sunday night.

5 A SUMMER Solstice Party will bring the beer and the bands out at the Black Isle Brewery this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday, the party will see underground artists from across Scotland converge on Allangrange for an all-day shindig – including The Guilty Pleasures, Indigo Velvet, The Side and Be Like Pablo.

The party begins at noon and tickets cost £15 (return bus an extra £10) – search Summer Solstice Party on Facebook.

6 A SPECIAL club night celebrating one of pop punk’s most loved albums comes to the Tooth and Claw, Inverness on Saturday.

Saturday night sees a 20th anniversary celebration of Blink-182’s seminal effort Enema of the State – with the album blasted in full alongside a whole host of other punk rock anthems throughout the night.

7 A DOUBLE bill of comedy talent descends on the Drouthy Cobbler, with two top comics eager to showcase what they’ve been working on for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

Gareth Mutch and Liam Withnail both bring their rough versions of hour-long shows to the Elgin pub on Thursday night to preview them ahead of August’s festival in the capital.
