ROCKNESS again plans on having festival goers rocking with laughter by upping the laugh quotient at this year’s event.

“Never Mind The Buzzcocks” star, and imminent Eden Court visitor, Sean Hughes, Scottish teenage comedy sensation Daniel Sloss and rising comedy star Scott Agnew are among the top names set to bring hilarity to the festival this June after the success of last year’s line-up, headlined by Kevin Bridges.

The RockNess 2011 line-up was unveiled by the heroic Gary: Tank Commander, who took time out from his overseas deployment to record a very special viral at MacSorley’s Bar in Glasgow, which can be seen at the RockNess website www.rockness.co.uk.

From the best Scottish talent to some of the biggest festival comics from around the world, this year’s comedy line-up will keep the laughs coming between 1.30pm and 7.30pm each day in the new and improved Howard’s End Pub.

Friday’s line-up is headlined by the risk-taking Ian Cognito, who has the reputation of being banned from more comedy clubs than any other British comic. Joining him on Friday are Scottish Comedian of the Year 2010, Ro Campbell, and former BBC Scotland’s “Live Floor Show” regular the Reverend Obadiah Steppenwolfe III, the fearless and outrageous Marty McLean, Bruce Fummey, Erik Lampaert, Glaswegian newcomer Mikey Adams, James Kirk, 2010 winner of the Edinburgh Fringe’s star-making “So You Think You’re Funny?” competition, Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist Ray Bradshaw, Chris Henry, Mac Star, ?Eddie Cassidy, Darren Connell, and Aussie visitor John Walker.

Flying in especially to headline on Saturday’s comedy stage is Perrier Award-winner Hughes. Joining him will be Andre Vincent, now one of the top stand-ups in the country, Agnew, comedy veteran Parrot, who has written for such stars as Dave Allen and Jo Brand, and Mark Nelson, winner of the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year competition and with a sold-out 2010 Fringe debut behind him. For a bit of national balance, the bill also features English Comedian of the Year finalist and “Skins” contributor Joel Dommett, five-times winner of the Comedy Café competition, Gus Lymburn, former BBC presenter Julia Sutherland, another relative newcomer in Paul Alcroft, Sarah-May Philo and a return visit from Darren Connell.

Headlining Sunday is Scotland’s youngest comic prodigy Daniel Sloss, who is already a four-year veteran of the circuit having started doing stand-up aged just 16.
