Highland-based band Lional are in a celebratory mood with their latest release – Happy Birthday.

The track which is released tomorrow sees the four-piece embrace some Gothic post-punk undertones – it is inspired by the likes of acts such as The Cure, Joy Division and The Smiths.

Band spokesman Joshua Mackenzie says: “Lional have never sounded more honest and raw and Happy Birthday is an anthem of love, loss and existential endurance.”

Happy Birthday was Vic Galloway’s tip of the week on the BBC Introducing Scotland show.

Lional first burst onto the Scottish music scene in 2016 with debut single Season of salt. The track received widespread praise and heavy rotation in Scotland and further afield – most notably being playlisted on KROQ.
