The Ironworksis delivering a new, free, training programme for creatives and industry professionals who want to be 'future fit' and improve their knowledge and use of the newest technology.

Topics including blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFT (non-fungible tokens) and the meta sphere (the online universe) will be covered by global specialists from leading universities, consultancies and technology businesses.

Called The Next LevelUp!, following the successful delivery of the first LevelUp! programme earlier this year, this four-week course is open to the full spectrum of the Scottish Government's definition of creative industries and includes visual and performing arts, cultural education, crafts, textiles, fashion, photography, music, writing and publishing, advertising, libraries, archives, antiques, architecture, design, film and video, TV and radio, software and electronic publishing, and computer games.

The programme is open to individual practitioners, freelancers and representatives from SMEs, larger companies, community groups and organisations.

Open to applicants based across Scotland, The Next LevelUp! will enable participants to shift their thinking and explore how digital and agile approaches can transform their creative business and ensure they are ‘future fit’.

The Next LevelUp! is delivered by Ironworks Venue Ltd. and is supported by the Creative Digital Initiative (CDI).

The CDI programme has been developed through a partnership of Scotland’s enterprise agencies (Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise, Business Gateway), Skills Development Scotland, Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government.

The transformational free training programme explores next level digital strategy through a bespoke programme of training, mentorship, masterclasses and unique insights from a range of leading international professionals from across the digital arena.

The course is custom designed to develop a broader understanding of more ambitious areas of the digital landscape and enable attendees to gain a practical understanding around the opportunities this offers for their business or practice.

Alex Smith, project management executive for LevelUp and Ironworks, said: “By exposure to exemplars – and being challenged by those at the vanguard of the digital model – not only will attendees make their operations more sleek, efficient and flexible, they will also develop the thought processes, mental models and skillsets relevant to the next level of digital opportunity.”

Starting on Monday, June 20, coursework will require four hours per week commitment and will be delivered in two weekly sessions.

The programme is produced as a highly immersive, fully online experience to enable maximum flexibility around participants' existing commitments.

Applications are open now and will close at 5pm on Wednesday (June 15).
