INVERNESS Film Fans have picked out three all-time great movies to screen as part of their next season.

Following the end of the current Studio Ghibli screenings, the city cinephiles will be returning to the idea of Desert Island Films – after the first part of this idea screened three films back in March and April.

And this time the group will be screening the classic films Full Metal Jacket, Singin’ in the Rain and Jaws.

Screening on Wednesday, June 12, Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket is regarded as one of the most trenchant looks at military life and the Vietnam War committed to cinema, as well as providing a launchpad to acting for the scene-stealing R Lee Ermey.

Singin’ in the Rain comes to the cinema on Tuesday, June 25, and is one of the most successful cinema musicals ever filmed, famous for Gene Kelly’s song-and-dance number performed in the rain.

And Spielberg’s Jaws, screening on Tuesday, July 9, arguably ushered in the era of the modern blockbuster with its thrilling and terrifying tale of a killer shark attacking beachgoers at a New England summer resort town.

InFiFa’s first Desert Island Films session saw Eden Court play host to Casablanca, The Royal Tenenbaums and the Shawshank Redemption.
