Hot Stuff is all about playing live music on stage in the face of adversity and against the odds.

With an average age of just 22, Bad Actress is made up of two long-standing friends from Muir of Ord, Tommy B and 80-R (both 25), and three brothers from Moray – Vinnie Vexx (23), Chick McFarlane (21) and Lui Q (18).

Chick is lead guitarist in the band.

He explained: “Hot Stuff is all about giving it a go, even if you have people telling you you can’t.

“It’s having the passion to just keep going and push life as far as you want.

“We definitely take this attitude as a band and recognise it in the great many bands who have inspired us.

“We can’t wait to play the song at HMV in Inverness on Saturday, along with a few of our other tracks.

“Playing in a shop isn’t something we’ve done before so it’s going to be interesting.”

It’s been a very busy year for Bad Actress, with no sign of this letting up. They’ve been playing venues across Scotland, England and Wales, including a UK tour with Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Journey, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent) in April.

And they also joined US band Hardline and Swedish rock veterans Electric Boy for some dates in Wales.

In August they rocked out at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

Then in September, they hit the road again to play a string of shows in England and Wales.

That included a headline slot on the second stage at the O2 Academy in Sheffield as part of the Hard Rock Hell Sleaze festival.

Their next show will be at the Bandstand in Nairn on Saturday, October 15.

Then, they will be making a return to Inverness for Monsterfest at Eden Court on October 28.

The band have played every year at the festival. In 2018, Bad Actress opened the festival, in 2019 they played on the Monsterfest fringe.

The festival didn’t happen in 2020 during the Covid lockdown.

But they were back last year playing the festival club, selling out the date in the Tooth & Claw. This year the band will play the main stage.

After that it’s back on the road for another UK tour with Marco Mendoza, one of the Monsterfest headline acts for this year.

That tour has nine shows through November.

In December, the Highland band will be heading for the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, where they will be opening for veteran rockers Gun – another Monsterfest headliner.

The band have a new song that they will be going on to do some recording on this weekend, after their live appearance.

And they hope to get an album out next year, having been concentrating on singles and EPs so far.

Saturday will also see more live music in Inverness with Ewan MacFarlane live at Mad Hatters.
