And there is just time to head to the seminar to help you do a better one whch starts t 4pm today!

On Friday, January 20 from 9am-9pm all you have to do is create a winning pitch for the chance to make your dream to have a book published come true.

So 280 characters could be all that is standing between you and securing a literary agent to make your dream a reality.

Writers from across Scotland can tweet pitch their work to a panel of Scotland’s finest literary agents and publishers.

Writer Leonie Charlton made an impression with her Tweet pitch a few years ago to Sandstone Press, who later published her sucessful non-fiction book Marram.

Twitter channels will be open to pitches of unpublished fiction, nonfiction and writing for children from writers living and working in Scotland.

The panel of eager literary agents and publishers will read tweet pitches as they come in, and if they like what they read they’ll make contact with the pitching writer directly to find out more.

So, to pitch your work, compose a tweet that really sells your book in no more than 280 characters and include the hashtag #xponorth.

You can pitch more than one work, you can pitch the same work more than once with different approaches to your pitch.

Good luck!

And ahead of XpoNorth Digital’s TweetPitch on January 20, three of Scotland’s leading literary agents will set the scene around the current marketplace for books, look at this year’s growing trends and offer their perspective on what publishers and readers are seeking.

During this interactive session today, Wednesday, January 11, the agents will tell us what they are individually looking for and offer key insights on what works and what doesn’t work when making a pitch in 2023.

Join them online with host Peter Urpeth – literary agents Louise Lamont, Caro Clarke and Jenny Brown.
