On Friday, Mad Hatters hosts an impressive showcase of local musicians featuring Danny Mortimer, Chancers, Lucid Liars and Lucille. Below, Marc Davidson updates us on what Lucille have been up to so far this year – and so far it has been action-packed ...

Q Remind people how Lucille got together?

Lucille got together in 2017 following the break-up of our previous band Neon Knights. We trialled a couple of new singers following Lauren Black’s departure for work. However, after several failed attempts it was decided Marc should step up from backing vocals to lead singer. New material was fast flowing and the band began to find their feet away from the pop-rock of Neon Knights and into the dark-anthemic power pop of Lucille.

Q What have you been up to in the last six months (ie Covid is ALMOST a thing of the past, maybe, and live stuff has been coming back!) and have you been recording anything?

A Lucille have actually had our busiest time as a band recently with the launch of our new single Rise in April before the band toured across Scotland and finished up with two performances at the IPO Festival at The Cavern Club and Pub in Liverpool. We also performed a three-song set for Rapal on BBC Scotland which gave Rise its radio debut and most recently we played a wonderful set at Belladrum Festival on the Free Range Stage. So it really has been a fantastic and frantic year for us. We are planning dropping another single before the year is out and hope to record an album next year.

Lucille have had a frantic year already.

Q What can people expect from the night – and how did this line-up get put together to create this night of music!?

A We expect a top night of top talent with some of the Highlands' best bands playing, we can’t wait to share the stage with Danny Mortimer, Lucid Liars and Chancers. We have gigged and toured with all the acts across our lifetime, but to have all of us on one stage for one night will be amazing. The guys are all so supportive of each other and nights like these tend to live long in the memory, so we are grateful to all the acts for agreeing to come onboard for the evening.

Q And just to let people know, what time should they be there – is it free or ticketed?

A Doors open at 7pm with our first act on at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, available online from any of the bands' pages or available on the night. We hope to see you all there!

Catch all four bands on Friday, August 19 at Mad Hatters, Inverness, from 7pm.
