Q Is this your first time paying Belladrum, if not when did you play and what stages before?

A Willie Campbell: This is Kapil's first! I've played at the festival a number of times, had some amazing gigs with Astrid (Hot House Stage and Seedlings), Tumbling Souls (Grassroots ), Open Day Rotation (Hothouse ), Kevin MacNeil (spoken word), Our Small Capital (Seedlings ).

The Dalmar Chorus.
The Dalmar Chorus.

Q Where are you coming from and what will your journey to Belladrum be like (ie plane, train, automobile etc)?

A It'll be the early o'clock ferry followed by a car journey.

Q What is your best general festival memory?

A Playing-wise I've had a few amazing festival shows with Tumbling Souls. Our first HebCelt gig was unreal. As a punter being at early T in the Park with mates was always amazing fun – '99 was amazing! Pulp playing Disco 2000, crowd going absolutely daft. Wonderful atmosphere.

Q Any weird things happened to you at a festival?

A Yes. No Comment.

Q What/ whose is the best performance you have ever witnessed at a festival? What was so good about it?

A Underworld at Glastonbury (2001 I think?) was one of the best sets I've ever seen. I've never experienced a sense of gathering like they created. It was unforgettable. The sound was flawless and people were going daft for them as far as the eye could see. Astrid played the next day, we were a bit rough tbh. Al Green played that year too, such a great vibe.

Q What's your most recent release – or do you have one coming up after Belladrum you can recommend people watch out for?

A We've only released one song! It's called Ancestors, it's up on the streaming platforms. Our next one is called Planted Intention' relase date TBC. I have a solo single coming out on July 29 called The Film Begins.

Q What track is your secret festival weapon (if you want to reveal that!)?

A We've still only done a handful of gigs, so we don't know yet! Ancestors seems to go down well, though.

Q Who are you looking forward to seeing at Belladrum if you will get time?

A Hoping to catch my old pals The Hellfire Club. Great country-influenced tunes. Right up my street. Would love to see Ash again.

Q The theme of Belladrum this year is myths and legends – what mythical creature would you like to meet and who would inspire the best Dalmar Chorus song? Mermaid, unicorn, Nessie, selkie, wolfman, something a bit more Marvel/DC?

A I would like to meet one of the Blue Men of the Minch, make sure his bioluminescence levels are okay. If they're off we'll write a protest song about it.

Q Tell people what stage day and time you are on so they can come along and see you?

A Dalmar Chorus are playing on the Seedlings Stage at 7.30pm on Thursday night.
