Bandstock: Macgilli QnA

Q What have you been up to so far this year – edited highlights at least for the Bandstock audience coming along on Sunday to the Beaufort Hotel for this new event?

A: I have been writing new material in the build-up to Belladrum Festival and have been recording/filming music videos which are now available on YouTube! There will be a new video coming very soon also, so I've been very busy.

Q What are the biggest challenges for you in music this year so far – has anything made you change or adapt your original plans for what you wanted to achieve?

A: I work away offshore so that rota presents its challenges at times. I've been offered some really good support slots in other cities but I've had to unfortunately pass them by. I'm hopeful I will get these opportunities again though .

Q Tell us about your music and what keeps it exciting for you and what gets you being creative and pushing yourself forward?

A: The exciting thing for me about my music is how unusual and different it is. I like to keep each instrumental piece I write unpredictable and different from the last. With it being instrumental music it allows me to really bend and mould the structures of my songs in interesting ways. And it's a joy to play live for people.

Below Macgilli shares his second music video for his instrumental Looping song Momentum.

He says: "It was filmed up in an iconic venue deep in the Scottish Highlands, Strathpeffer Pavilion.

"We raised the bar with this one.

"Every element of music you hear is played on one guitar only and the arrangement can be performed live."
