And there's the opportunity to work with professional animators and film makers (including Jim Parkyn from Aardman Animations) plus industry sessions with producers and festival directors.

The deadline to apply is October 2 with the course starting on October 9, with some bursaries available to cover the cost.

The course is being run in association with Screen Argyll which is excited to be bringing the BFI Film Academy back to 16-19-year-olds across Argyll, the Highlands and Islands!

Now into it’s third year, this year’s course will take place online and ends with a showcase of the young people’s films.

Graduates of the course have gone on to submit award-winning films into film festivals, be selected for the youth team at film festivals as well as going on to study film at university.

One of last year’s alumni recently won best animator at the Young Animator Of The Year awards!

“I absolutely loved their films – it has totally blown me away. The amount of work that’s gone into the films, for one week, someone who has never done animation before… it’s incredible. The use of colour / movement / sound… really impressed. I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone keen to learn more about film-making.”

“My son has just begun freshers’ week. I’ve little doubt that attending the BFI film academy helped him to get on the course – so thank you!"
