INVERNESS toasted a Scottish footballing success on Thursday night as the nation's under-18 schooboys defeated England 1-0.

The young Lions' victory at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in Inverness saw Scotland share the Centenary Shield with Northern Ireland.

A crowd of around 500 attended and were impressed by a strong and dominant peformance from Scotland.

They had to wait, however, until the 85th minute for the winner as sub Stuart Love struck to seal a rare win over the "auld enemy".

The Scots went through the competition unbeaten, having defeated Wales and drawn with Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
