Young loan stars who went to Fort William have first team potential at Inverness Caley Thistle

Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s head of youth development, Charlie Christie, sees first team potential in some of the club’s best prospects.

While Roddy MacGregor and Cameron Harper were involved in the first team squad last season, 11 academy players were sent out on loan to Fort William in the Highland League for at least part of the campaign.

It was a move that benefited all parties, with ICT’s youngsters – who were too old for under-18s football – getting regular action at a senior level, while Fort William were on track for their best points tally in four years before the league was ended due to the coronavirus.

Christie has been keeping a close eye on the progress of Caley Thistle’s loanees, and he believes there is every chance that more of them could follow MacGregor and Harper from a very successful youth team into the first team picture at the Caledonian Stadium.
