Women's football kicks off at Clach

Highland League club Clachnacuddin have launched a new team that will be competing in the Highland and Islands Women’s League.

Clachnacuddin Women will join seven other teams in the new regional division which kicks off next month.

The team, who were previously Ross County Ladies in SWF Division Two North last season, have agreed to be rebranded thanks to the support of the Merkinch club and sponsors Orion Group and will play their matches at Grant Street Park.

Captain Eilidh Anderson said it is big for women’s football in Inverness that Clach will have a team in the league and provide women with more chances to play competitive football.

“This is huge news for us,” said the midfielder.
