CAMERON Harper says Inverness Caledonian Thistle have to learn how to crack open defences that sit back during matches to ensure further success this season.

Inverness have had a tough start to the campaign where they find themselves in the bottom half of the table and are trying to kill off a potential fight against relegation towards the end of this season.

Wing back Harper says Inverness have experienced problems this season against teams who hold back against them.

He says they must have more ruthlessness up front to get further points on the board in the Championship.

He said: “I’m not slagging anyone, but it seems to be teams that sit in on us or play a certain way, we seem to struggle with a little bit.

“In the game against Morton, I didn’t feel we got into our passing rhythm.

“We didn’t really take the game to them or be assertive in our attacking play and combinations in the final third.

“The first half against Arbroath kills us, really - not defending our box well. That’s something we’d been good at in the seven games before.

“Everyone could see that. We were solid defensively and good going forward. We have had a wee lapse on that focus defensively. We’re a team that is always going to score goals.”

Inverness play their final match of 2023 when they take on Greenock Morton at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.

He said: “Everyone saw when the gaffer came in how much more solid we were defensively. Then the attacking side came in the next few games after.

“It is just about having that focus and being 100 per cent assertive in what we’re doing.”
