Win breaks Maclennan into the top 10

Mhairi Maclennan says she is looking to get her 5k career on track after recording an impressive victory to move into the top 10 ranked athletes in the UK over the distance.

The 23-year-old from Kirkhill won the Podium 5k at Barrowford with a time of 16:11.

More accustomed to running in 10k and cross country races, Maclennan put in a lightning performance as she smashed her personal best by over a minute.

She says she was delighted that she was able to come out on top at the event.
