Wilson returns to defend Inverness Campus 5k title

Runners will be on their marks for the Inverness Campus Road Race tonight.

The 5k event returns following a successful debut last year, attracting strong fields of men and women in the A race for athletes expected to run 18 minutes 30 seconds or faster.

The race will start and finish in the grounds of the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Moray Road Runner Kenny Wilson is back to defend his title.

His main competition is expected to come from Scottish internationalist, Shettleston’s Lachlan Oates.

Also among the leading seeded athletes is Hamish Hickey from Strathpeffer representing Ross County Athletics Club and Central Athletic Club.

Donnie MacDonald from Muir of Ord is expected to be the first finisher for the Inverness Harriers.

The women’s field has three Scottish road internationalists, including Inverness Harrier Jenny Bannerman and Fiona Brian of Aberdeen Metro who have both been in personal best form over 10k in recent months.
