Highland Wildcats won the North Conference Trophy after defeating Merseyside Nighthawks 32-12 at Bught Park.

The Wildcats earned home advantage by finishing higher in the league table than their English opponents, and put it to good use in what ended up being a one-sided victory.

But the club’s youth development officer Robbie Paulin says that the win didn’t always look like a sure thing and that Nighthawks had improved considerably from their last meeting.

"It was quite slow to start with, we had quite a wobbly first and even second quarter at the start as well, it was pretty ropey," Paulin said.
