ANDREAS Flammer secured his place as one of the great champions of Highland Week of International Curling after winning his fourth title in Inverness.

The Swiss skipper, with the team of Alexandra Luscher, Serge Lusser and Graham MacKenna, held off the challenge of Scotland's Craig Hamilton from Lanarkshire to regain his title at the Inverness Ice Centre.

Going into the final end 7–5 up, victory was not secure until the final stone when Hamilton failed to get the required two shots which would have forced an extra end as Flammer secured victory 8-5.

Flammer previously won the tournament in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

He says he was thrilled to secure another title in a tournament which he says is special to him, whether he is champion or not.

"It was already special before because it is a big family and the most important thing is to be here and meet friends. Winning trophies is nice, but it is a bonus.

"It was a close final and in the sixth end we lost it somehow, but we came back and got it.

"We had to wait until the last shot from Craig as he played really well."

Flammer says he has every intention to come back in 2024 and win it for a fifth time.

"I will come back next year, but that is not the most important thing to defend a title.

"It is nice to get it, but just to be here is important.

"There is reason I come for summer holidays, it is not just for this week, it is Scotland."
