Runners trotted through Nairn on Boxing Day as they took part in the annual Nairn Turkey Trot.

A total of 234 runners competed in the annual event on Tuesday morning which saw a massive increase from the 160 runners who took part last year.

Runners congregated at the Maggot Playing Field before setting off alongside the riverside before finishing at the point where it started.

The race was not about who was the fastest, but the winner was crowned who was closest to their estimated finishing time.

Runners were not allowed to wear watches or timekeeping devices during the race.

Organisers were still working out the times of who was the winner at the time of going to press this afternoon.

Runners from a number of athletics clubs were represented, with people also taking part in fancy dress ranging from wearing Santa Claus costumes to competing in inflatable turkey costumes.

Afterwards all athletes were invited back to the Seamans Hall where results were collated to discovered who was this year's winner.

Look out for our picture special from the Nairn Turkey Trot later tonight on the Inverness Courier website at 7pm.
