The incident, which has gone viral on social media, appears the defender to punch Western Isles player Micheil Russell Smith, during Nairn County's 3-1 win in Stornoway yesterday.

The video recorded by Island Footie on YouTube, appears to show Tokely striking out at the player at 14 minutes and 20 seconds in the video.

The incident appeared to have been missed by officials during the match which was Nairn County's first game during their pre-season.

Nairn County won the match 3-1 and took the lead after 26 minutes through a Scott Davidson penalty.

Five minutes later, they doubled their advantage as Davidson scored again as he pounced on a rebound from an Angus Dey shot.

Smith pulled one back for the Western Isles midway through the second half, but Ciaran Young restored Nairn's two goal advantage with 17 minutes remaining.

Tokely (44) joined Nairn County last season after previously playing with North Caledonian League outfit St Duthus.

Tokely spent 16 years at Inverness Caledonian Thistle between 1996 and 2012 before joining Ross County for one season in 2013 and then spending five years at Highland League club Brora Rangers.
