WATCH: Caley Jags fans say Daniel MacKay goal was their top highlight

Daniel MacKay's 84th minute goal was the highlight of the Scottish Cup Final, according to Caley Thistle supporters who attended yesterday's game.

On our coach journey home with members of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Travel Club, we had a chance to catch up with one or two supporters to find out what stood out to them about the day, and how the club can go forward from here.

One young supporter, Ewen, said that MacKay's goal gave fans hope at a crucial stage in the match – and that things could have been different if he had come on earlier in the game.

He said: "It was a great moment that will live in my memory for a while. Everyone played well today, but my man of the match would be Danny MacKay. He probably should have started."

Caley Jags fan Toby Macrae said: "Despite the result, we still scored a goal against the top team in the Premiership. It was a good way to end the season.

"Mark Ridgers saved us a few times, but my man of the match would be Scott Allardice. It is going to be hard to see him go, as we'll struggle a lot without him if he leaves."

Angus Mackenzie, who has supported the club since their formation, added: "I hope this proved that we can live with the top teams in Scotland, and hopefully that attracts more people to come along and support the team."

Rosemary Webb, who runs the travel club, also hopes to see some more supporters at games next season.

She said: "It was a good game, I was very proud of the team. The cup final gives us hope. I know we won't get 6000 people for the next away game, but that's what we'd like to build on and maybe we could get some more young fans in."
