RUGBY fans in Inverness had the chance to meet their heroes as Glasgow Warriors players met with the crowd at full time after beating Ayrshire Bulls at the Caledonian Stadium.

The Warriors used the pre-season friendly as part of their preparations for the new United Rugby Championship season.

After defeating Ayrshire Bulls 22-17, players met with fans in the stands to take pictures, selfies and sign autographs.

Among the players featuring for Glasgow Warriors on Friday night included Simon Berghan, Richie Gray, George Horne, Kyle Steyn, Johnny Matthew, Nathan McBeth and Sione Vailanu.

Horne says it was a great experience for the team to play in Inverness.

“It’s been really good to get up north, honestly,” said the Scotland international.

“It’s not somewhere we get to go that often, and everyone we’ve met this week has been absolutely brilliant with us.

“The people up here are massively knowledgeable about their rugby and the crowd tonight were superb.

"We’ve had a great week, so thank you to Highland and to Inverness Caledonian Thistle for having us.”

The game was held as part of Highland Rugby Club centenary celebrations as the club celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Before the match, Highland rugby legend Colin Baillie delivered the match ball on the field.

Glasgow Warriors start their URC Championship campaign on Friday, September 17 in Italy against Bennetton Treviso.
