Scott Davidson says he has signed a new deal with Nairn County as he wants to repay the club for the support they have shown him during his time out through injury.

The 27-year-old has agreed to a new two-year contract at Station Park with a one-year option.

However, it is unlikely the striker will play again for Nairn County this season as he is due to undergo surgery in Stirling on Thursday for an outer cartilage tear.

He faces a 12-week wait to recover from surgery which means he is facing a target date of returning to action at the beginning of next season.

Davidson says after playing so few games due to injury as well as the impact of the pandemic on last season, he wanted to remain at Nairn County to show what he can do.

“I am itching to get back to action as I started my career well at Nairn,” he said.

“Then there was the impact of Covid on the season and then being injured.

“I just want to show people what I can do and I don’t think I have had the chance to do that at Nairn.

“That is one of the main reasons behind me signing a new deal here.

“I feel like i’ve got unfinished business here, I have not been here that long and only played around 20 games.

“That is not a lot of games, and I still want to be at the club, so I think it was only fair that I signed a new deal with Nairn."

Nairn County have suffered a major injury crisis this season with a number of players out.

Davidson says the impact of Covid on the 2020/21 campaign was a major reason for so many players being injured.

“I am not the kind of player who gets injured a lot.

“This season has been bad, but the long lay-off last season hasn’t helped.

“A lot of boys have had similar injuries such as Achilles and knee injuries.

“There seems to be quite a common theme with the injuries.”

However, Davidson is looking forward to return to action with Nairn saying it is a squad with huge potential.

“We have a good group of boys here,” he said.

“Looking forward, we can compete really well when everyone is back fit.

“I am looking to get back among the goals as well and I think next season we could do really well.

“At the start of the season we were questioning ourselves and it is a bad season for us.

“But we are still ninth so we’re not too disheartened.”
