CLACH crashed to a 4-0 Highland League defeat at Inverurie Locos on Saturday as both teams finished with 10 men.

Lilywhites goalkeeper David Harrison spilled a free-kick from Ryan Broadhurst on 18 minutes and Scott McIntosh steered the ball into the net to start a tough afternoon for the Inverness side.

Adam Maitland doubled the advantage in 32 minutes when he crashed a shot past Harrison after Keiran Adams’ header came back off the crossbar.

Locos goalkeeper Andy Reid was sent off early in the second half before sub keeper Jamie Mackinnon ensured the hosts finished with a clean sheet by saving a penalty from Stuart Leslie.

Clach right-back Neil MacDonald was then shown a red card when he felled Nicky Gordon in the box.

Maitland grabbed his second of the afternoon for Inverurie when he was sent clear by Neil Gauld and captain Neil McLean rounded off the scoring to push Locos into fifth spot in the table.

In a dress rehearsal for the Fosters League Cup final in Banff on May 14, Nairn County drew 2-2 at Fraserburgh.

The Broch opened the scoring on 29 minutes when Jonathan Garden steered home a cross from Steven Main via the underside of the bar.

However, Nairn soon levelled the game when Steven Mackay crashed a fantastic 18-yard shot into the net after he was teed up by Paul MacLeod.

The visitors then edged ahead before the break when John Cameron scored from close range.

Fraserburgh earned a point in the second half when former Celtic and Ross County midfielder David Hannah felled Allan Hale in the box. Hale stepped up and beat Ally Rigers for his 21 goal of the campaign.

A young Fort William side played well, but were no match for Keith, whose 3-0 win at Claggan Park was not enough to keep their title bid alive due to events elsewhere.

Jamie Lennox shot Keith ahead on 13 minutes when he lobbed the ball over goalkeeper John Campbell.

It took until the 57 minutes for Keith to grab the killer second goal when Dean Donaldson scored from close range before Jonathan Smith soon added a third for the Maroons to ensure all three points for the visitors.

At the top of the table, it’s a Saturday showdown for the championship this weekend after champions Buckie Thistle beat Turriff United 2-0 at home.

Title-chasers Deveronvale won 3-1 at Wick Academy, thanks to a Maradona-like handball equaliser from skipper Mark Chisholm, to earn the right to battle it out with Buckie at Victoria Park this weekend for that coveted winners’ prize.

The Jags are two points clear ahead of this last-day clash, so Vale need to win the game to deny the Jags the title and win it themselves.

Elsewhere, Cove Rangers were 4-0 winners at Strathspey Thistle and Forres Mechanics and Huntly shared four goals at Mosset Park.
