TWO young Highland players have been selected for the Scotland under-17 development squad that travels to Valladolid, Spain, for a two-week training camp.

Lyall Archer and Bruce Flockhart have earned their selection after years of working their way up through the youth ranks at the club. Both started playing rugby with Highland at the age of five and have moved through the micro and mini sections in to the junior squads.

This season, both players were selected for the Caledonia under-17 squad. From there, they attended a Scotland trial for that age group where they were each successful.

Archer and Flockhart, who are currently working towards their higher and advanced exams, are just two of latest young players to progress from Highland’s youth coaching set-up, while they have also worked alongside the coaches at the Highland Institute of Sport.
