ROWING crews from across Great Britain will be taking part in a major event scheduled to take place in Inverness this weekend.

The Caley Cruisers Inverness Winter Head incorporating the Scottish Student Head Races will take place on the Caledonian Canal tomorrow and on Sunday.

The two-day event will see a large number of crews representing clubs and schools from across Scotland and England as rowers will compete in a number of race categories.

Races will take place over the 4500 metre course from Dochgarroch to the finish line beside the rowing club boathouse close to the new swing bridge at Tomnahurich

Inverness Rowing Club honorary president Roy Sinclair says this weekend promises to be an exciting event and should make for an excellent two days of action.

Ahead of the event, Sinclair said: “Crews representing clubs, schools and universities from all over Scotland, and including some crews from England, will be travelling to Inverness to compete in this highly significant event in the Scottish Rowing calendar.

“Many of the Inverness crews will be racing in each division on both days of the regatta.”

The action is set to start tomorrow at noon for crews which are competing in Division One and 3pm for crews that are competing in Division Two of the competition.

The second day of action is set to start on Sunday.

Races in Division One are set to start at 11.30am with events in Division Two scheduled to start at 3pm.
